Battlefield 1 will probably come with a season pass and a couple of years of paid map packs, but it looks like the first one will be free.

If you head over to Origin right now, you can pre-order standard and deluxe editions of the game.

The deluxe edition comes with a host of extras, including three days of early access to the game, the Red Baron pack, the Lawrence of Arabia pack and a selection of five Battlepacks.

Both versions will come with the Hellfighters pack, as well as seven days' early access to a free map drop.

"Scout ahead later this year when the first new map is added - get there a week early so you can navigate it like a master by release day," reads the official description.

So it looks like players can expect at least one post-release map for free, even if all the others will be included in the season pass.

Announced at the tail-end of last week, Battlefield 1 will take place during the First World War.

Locations include the Italian Alps, Arabian deserts and France.

In terms of the single-player storyline, Dice states that it wants to "add more Battlefield into the Battlefield campaign", which is "designed around unique Battlefield moments".

The game will be available on Xbox One, PS4 and PC from October 18.
