Assassin's Creed Chronicles: China might be stalking its way towards mobile devices.
The rumour emerged when Pocket Gamer discovered references to iOS and Android devices within the files of the PC version of the game.
Publisher Ubisoft has declined to comment on the speculation.
Assassin's Creed Chronicles: China is a spinoff from the core series, introducing side-scrolling gameplay and a new protagonist called Shao Jun.
Shao Jun is the last remaining assassin from the Chinese Brotherhood, on a mission to avenge the deaths of the other members of her clan, who were killed by templars.
Assassin's Creed Chronicles: China, which is available for PC, PS4 and Xbox One, will be followed by spinoffs set in India and Russia.
