Following months of teases and leaks, it's finally been confirmed that Tony Hawk Pro Skater 5 is on the way.

The skating sequel - the first since Shred in 2010 - is a return to the classic combo-driven direction of the original games, along with new additions including power-ups and the ability to shoot projectiles, according to Game Informer.

The game is said to have a seamless online and offline progression, allowing objectives and missions to be completed solo or online either co-operatively or competitively. The creation of skate parks - which can be shared with others online - has also been confirmed.

Meanwhile, it will feature skaters old and new including Nyjah Huston, Aaron Homoki, Ishod Wair, Riley Hawk, Lizzie Armanto, Chris Cole, David Gonzalez, Leticia Bufoni and Andrew Reynolds.

Developed by Robomodo, Tony Hawk Pro Skater 5 will be available on PS4 and Xbox One this year, followed by PS3 and Xbox 360 versions shortly after.

The game was first confirmed by the skater at a CES keynote in January, and its name leaked by a caterer last month.
