With Daredevil season three signing off with a teasing storyline, showrunner Erik Oleson has confirmed talks with Netflix for a fourth outing.

Whispers of another season have been doing the rounds for a while now, with Oleson previously admitting that he'd like to be a part of the show's future. Now, via his Twitter page, the showrunner has given fans some thrilling news.

He wrote: "Just pitched @netflix #Daredevil Season 4. Fingers crossed!", which as you'd expect, has given rise to some excited typists on social media.

Check out some of the hopeful reactions below - which may contain spoilers for those not currently up to speed with season three's events.

Daredevil fans are understandably nervous about the superhero show's future, given that Marvel TV recently sent Iron Fist and Luke Cage to an early grave.

Hopefully, Oleson's pitch will allow Charlie Cox's Matt Murdock to return to our screens.

Meanwhile, leading man Cox has revealed that he'd like The Punisher to return to the show sometime in the future.

"I loved working with Jon [Bernthal]," he told Digital Spy. "I loved that dynamic, and there's a wealth of storylines and dynamics that could be explored from the comics with those two. So that would be great."

All three seasons of Daredevil are available to stream on Netflix.
