If you thought The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina would bring back the loveable, sassy Salem from the original Sabrina the Teenage Witch, you thought wrong.
The new Netflix series has given us a first proper look at the iconic black cat from the series, voice and all... and oh boy is he scary.
In a preview clip, Sabrina (Kiernan Shipka) hears a creepy voice whispering her name. "I heard you calling in the woods… and I came," the creepy voice says, as we see a demonic figure crawl up the walls.
However, it then transforms into an adorable, purring black cat, which Sabrina picks up and cuddles.
Somehow we don't think this is going to be the same cat that poses as women in online chat rooms for attention.
Still, it's good to see Salem back, demonic or not.

We're at least glad Salem has returned in cat form, especially as the showrunners considered turning the classic comic character into a dog for the new series.
"I get a call that says, 'Kiernan is allergic to the cat,'" showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa recalled recently. "It did go through my mind: Could Salem be a dog?"
However, they went with a black cat in the end as long as the cat and the Sabrina actress remain "at a safe distance".
The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina comes to Netflix worldwide on October 26.
