House of Cards celebrated yesterday's (July 4) Independence Day by ushering in the new era of President Claire Underwood.
The final season of the hit Netflix political drama – which has had politics of its own to navigate – announced to fans yesterday that they had a "message from the President of the United States".
In the short, but still pretty exciting, clip, Claire Underwood can be seen sitting in a replica of the Lincoln Memorial. "Happy Independence Day", she says. "To me."
It's officially Claire's turn, everyone.
The series' sixth and final season, which is expected to air this autumn, is the first without its former lead Kevin Spacey, who was written out of the show last year following a string of sexual misconduct allegations made against him.
In light of the news, Netflix not only reduced its episode order from 13 down to eight but also scrapped two episodes that had already been filmed with Spacey at the helm.

It also announced that this will be the final season of House of Cards.
Reflecting on getting back to work on the drama without Spacey, actor Michael Kelly recently said that the atmosphere on-set was "strange".

Kelly, who plays Doug Stamper in the show, said: "I don't even know how to put it into words because you know one thing for so long and then all of a sudden it's a completely different world you're living in.
"There's obviously a million emotions that I went through, that I processed during this whole thing. I don't want to talk too much about it because it was heartbreaking in so many ways."
Season six of House of Cards will return in autumn 2018, streaming worldwide on Netflix.
