Lost in Space season two could feature more familiar faces from the original 1960s series if the executive producers get their wish.

We're still waiting on an official confirmation for season two, but we know that the writers are already working on scripts, with Matt Sazama revealing to Express Online some of their plans for the next outing (if they get one).

"I think the original cast is an asset. And we don't know exactly how or why they'll fit into the show, but we'd love to include them in the way we included Bill Mumy," he explained.

"We're not afraid of the history of the show. We embrace it and we want everyone – including old fans – to be fans of our show too."

Mumy played Will Robinson in the original series and was in the Netflix reboot as Dr Zachary Smith, so any plans to bring back some of that cast could see them all play different characters.

Earlier this month, the showrunners had teased that season two is "wild". "We are working on scripts and hoping that, if we get a greenlight, we're ready to go," Sazama outlined.

"We've had a lot of thoughts about it, and hopefully, if everyone watches it, we'll get to see more adventures of the Robinsons, because we do have some crazy stuff planned out that we really hope we get to film."

Lost in Space is available on Netflix now.
