Mindhunter season two is set to start shooting at the end of this month and now we know that David Fincher will be back to direct.

The Playlist reports that Fincher will direct the premiere and finale episodes as he did in season one, with Killing Me Softly's Andrew Dominik directing two episodes and House of Cards' Carl Franklin taking charge of the rest.

It is expected that season two will feature eight episodes, two down from the first season, and Jonathan Groff, Holt McCallany and Anna Torv will all return.

As revealed last year, Mindhunter season two will focus on the Atlanta child murders of the late 1970s and early 80s.

The Atlanta child murders, although some of the victims were adults, took place from 1979-81 and saw at least 28 African-American children, teenagers and adults killed, with Wayne Williams arrested and convicted of two of the adult murders.

Earlier this year, Groff teased the second season by not telling us anything at all. "I have seen scripts, but I can't say anything about them. I am excited to go back," he explained.

"I can't say anything about it and I don't want [David Fincher] to get mad and I don't want to spoil it."

We don't yet have a confirmed release date for Mindhunter season two, but it is expected to land on Netflix later this year.
