It's nearing the beginning of the end for New Girl, but don't worry, it's going to be a celebration not a pity party.
Max Greenfield, who plays Schmidt in the sitcom, has promised fans that New Girl's final outing will be like a "love letter" to itself and its audience.
No need for a donation to the douchebag jar, then.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Max compared the series' seventh and final run to the work of a rock star. "It's all of the greatest hits from seven seasons," he explained.
"What I love about the season and the way we wrap it up is I equate it to like a rock musician who plays a rock concert and goes, 'You know what, you guys? Tonight I'm playing the hits! We're just gonna play all the songs you love.'"
Praising the show's writers, the actor added: "I love that [the writers] did that. I love what Liz [Meriwether] and the rest of the writers did. I think it's a real love letter to the fans."

Of course, Max isn't the only one excited about New Girl's conclusion – Zooey Deschanel is also "really happy" about the way the story picks up.

Zooey – aka Jess – recently teased that fans can expect "a lot of Easter eggs" from the new season. "I feel like we covered a lot of our classic sort of scenarios in the last season. The writers did a good job," she said.
Season seven's eight-episode run, which takes place four years after last season, will air for six weeks before concluding with an hour-long series finale in May.
And we're sobbing already.
New Girl returns to Fox on April 10 in the US. It's not yet known when the season will air in the UK.
