The US network behind Fargo has some good news and bad news about the future of the show.
FX's spin-off of the classic Joel and Ethan Coen movie wrapped its third critically-acclaimed season last summer amid fears that busy showrunner Noah Hawley wouldn't have time to make any more.
That's definitely not the case. At Friday's TCA press tour in Los Angeles, FX chief John Landgraf assured reporters that Hawley is definitely working on a fourth season — although there will be quite a wait before fans see it.
"It's not gone. Noah Hawley has told us that he has an idea that excited me enormously for a fourth cycle of Fargo," Landgraf explained.
"The plan is to have that ready for 2019. I'm focused on what's coming in 2018. The anticipation is there will be another cycle of Fargo in 2019."
It's worth noting that FX has still yet to give Fargo a formal recommissioning. That will likely come when or if Hawley is confident enough in his new idea to map out a full season.

Last summer, Noah Hawley admitted to attendees of the ATX Television Festival in Austin that he was worried about running out of ideas for the interconnected Fargo universe.
"There's only a certain amount of storytelling you can tell in that vein. And I love telling stories in this vein, but I don't have another one yet," he acknowledged.
His most recent incarnation of Fargo featured Ewan McGregor in a dual lead performance as both parking lot magnate Emmit Stussy and his crook brother Ray, and was met with overwhelmingly positive reviews.
