The Dynasty reboot had its work cut out in trying to find a replacement for Dame Joan Collins, who played legendary diva Alexis Carrington from the original series.
But we dare say that the ritzy CW primetime soap has nailed it! It was announced on Tuesday (November 28) that former Desperate Housewives star Nicollette Sheridan had landed the key role as the new Alexis.
The first wife of magnate Blake Carrington (Grant Show), Alexis will return to her former husband's life to upset the balance of power between his young wife Cristal (Nathalie Kelley) and daughter Fallon (Elizabeth Gillies).
Alexis is determined to reunite her family and regain her stature, and will stop at absolutely nothing until she rises to the top once again (via TV Guide). Sheridan is expected to debut later this season.
The 54-year-old actress makes for a natural choice to succeed the great Joan Collins because of her own history as a staple of US primetime soaps.
Sheridan had her breakthrough in the mid-'80s as the ruthless would-be business mogul Paige Matheson in Dallas spin-off Knots Landing, and later played temptress Edie Britt in Desperate Housewives.

Her messy departure from Desperate Housewives notoriously led to a legal squabble with that show's creator Marc Cherry, so hopefully she gets along better with Dynasty showrunner Sallie Patrick.
The CW recently picked up a full season of its reimagining of classic '80s soap Dynasty, meaning there will be plenty more drink-throwing and sassy insults for 2018.
Dynasty airs on Wednesdays on The CW in the US, with Netflix airing the show a day later in the UK.
