If ever Richard Curtis's Four Weddings and a Funeral was turned into a TV show, you'd want a similar genius as the one making it, right? Good news…
With the clock winding down on her beloved sitcom The Mindy Project, Mindy Kaling has decided her next project will be turning writer Curtis's bittersweet romantic comedy classic into an episodic series for US streaming service Hulu (via The Hollywood Reporter).
Kaling's vision will follow the American Horror Story anthology format (only without all of the murdering), where each season is its own self-contained story weaving multiple major characters through life milestones.
Richard Curtis is directly involved as an executive producer on the Four Weddings and a Funeral show, while Kaling will write the first season with The Mindy Project's Matt Warburton. Kaling was previously on the team who adapted The Office for the US.
There's no telling yet where Four Weddings and a Funeral would air in the UK, but we're sure every channel is chomping at the bit to snag the sure-fire awards contender.
This exciting development comes just a few months after Richard Curtis adapted another of his classic comedies, Love, Actually, as a one-off TV film to benefit Red Nose Day in the US and the UK.
