Last seen in season one as part of Rick's original Atlanta group, Morales re-emerged after all this time as one of Negan's Saviors, holding his once-ally at gunpoint.

But what happened to his family? How did he manage to travel all the way to here from Atlanta? How did he survive all this time?

Pareja teased to Entertainment Weekly that answers are coming.

"I can't say too much, but we'll definitely learn a little bit of a backstory from Morales and what's been going on with him over the years, and a little bit of what's led to his transformation and transition into one of Negan's men as a Savior," he said.

Pareja added that, perhaps not surprisingly, Morales is a very different character to the one we saw seven seasons ago.

"He is indeed a different guy, and honestly, even as an actor, there wasn't a whole lot of prep that I could do because I was kept pretty much in the dark myself until it was go time," he explained. "It's just a whole new guy altogether.

"I had always assumed that Morales was surviving out there and making it work, always hoping for the best, definitely being a survivor. I think we saw that streak in him in the first season.

"Other than that, man, I just figured he was out there surviving and doing probably some really nasty things in order to survive."
