Stephen Colbert wasted no time going after Donald Trump while hosting the 69th Emmy Awards tonight. In fact, his entire opening number revolved around one theme: The world sucks, but at least TV is good.
"The world might be the worst we've ever seen, but it's never been better on the TV screen," Colbert sang in his opening.
He even brought in Chance the Rapper to rap about the abysmal state of the world – but at least the musician had a slightly more positive outlook on things.
"Why don't you put the remote down and join the protest," he rapped.

After walking on stage with Handmaid's Tale-inspired backing dancers, Colbert continued to hammer Trump in his opening monologue.

"You love morally compromised anti-heroes. You love Walter White. He's just Walter much Whiter," Colbert said before welcoming Trump, who is obviously watching the Emmys right now instead of doing his job running the country.
"There's no one who has time for that much TV. Except for the president. Hello, Mr. President. Thank you for joining us," Colbert said.
Reminder: Trump never won an Emmy. This is going to be a hell of a night.
