While the Avengers are off in search fighting their Infinity War, Netflix's street-level heroes will be right here on earth protecting their turf.
Extended teasers for Marvel's The Defenders and The Punisher (the latter not released online yet) premiered on Friday (July 21) during the Marvel TV panel at Comic-Con International in San Diego, in front of a packed Hall H.
As you can imagine, there's much quipping and kicking in The Defenders as Daredevil (Charlie Cox), Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), Luke Cage (Mike Colter) and Iron Fist (Finn Jones) discover they're all being targeted by a common enemy.
That enemy is the mysterious Sigourney Weaver's Alexandra, the leader of an ancient order in the middle of a plot to seize control over all life.
Luke Cage star Mike Colter recently said of Alexandra: "The villains that we're dealing with are a combination of several entities, um, and they all have something to do with our separate stories that have played out in each of our own individual series.
"So this has been going on for a while. It wasn't obvious each individual series, but in this series you'll find out that the things that happened to all of us basically were all because of one entity and that's what's gonna kind of tie things together and then we'll see that, we'll understand that, and before you know it, eventually we'll fight together or not."

However, The Defenders won't just be fighting Alexandra — the terror group known as The Hand and a resurrected Elektra (Élodie Yung) are lurking in the shadows too.
In The Punisher, Jon Bernthal reprises his Daredevil role as the ultimate hero (and one-man riot squad) Frank Castle as he resumes his bloody war against the New York underworld.
The series features Westworld baddie Ben Barnes as Frank's troubled one-time best friend Billy Russo and Deborah Ann Woll returning to her own Daredevil role as Karen Page.
Marvel's The Defenders arrives on Netflix on August 18. Watch a previous trailer from the Marvel and Netflix co-production below:
