After what felt like a lifetime of waiting, season 7 of Game of Thrones landed tonight (July 17) in the US and was being simultaneously broadcast on Sky Atlantic for keen UK fans to stay up and watch.
Digital Spy was of course there to watch it all unfold, along with millions of people who were excitedly chattering away online about what they saw happening.

The episode kicked off with a pretty savage scene of poisonous slaughter at the hands of Arya, who stole Walder Frey's face to kill the entire Frey clan, and this outrageous opener went down a storm all round:
Euron Greyjoy was plotting some deeds with Cersei, which didn't bode well in some people's eyes:
But while all that went on, Euron's outfit was causing many viewers to do a double take:
Esteemed British actor Jim Broadbent – who some people know as Slughorn in Harry Potter – debuted in the show, and was seen in a scene alongside Samwell:
But, while Broadbent might have gone over some people's heads,the unlikely appearance of Ed Sheeran (although we knew his cameo was coming) was too much for lots of people to handle:
Catching a first glance of Daenerys Targaryen after nearly a full episode having gone by got lots of people screaming for joy:
And we got just one line for Dany to end the show, on her beginnings in this new season:
