24 might be missing Jack Bauer these days, but that doesn't mean other characters from the show's classic run can't return.

Carlos Bernard will reappear as turncoat Tony Almeida on new revival series 24: Legacy - and now another star has voiced her desire to return.

Jean Smart, who appeared in 25 episodes of the original series as Martha Logan, told Digital Spy that she'd love to play the part again.

"24 was so much fun, that was one of my all-time favourite jobs," she said. "I haven't seen the new one yet, so I don't know if that would even be a possibility, but yeah, that was great fun!"

Martha was the wife of President Charles Logan (Gregory Itzin) and her already fragile mental state deteriorated when her husband was unmasked as a traitor to his country.

So where would Martha be now? Unfortunately, Smart doesn't think she'd be enjoying the good life somewhere with new lover Aaron Pierce (Glenn Morshower).

"I've always thought that she would be somewhere in a straitjacket, rambling on in Russian! With a shaved head."

That's quite the visual. 24's famous for its stunning plot twists, so who knows what Legacy will deliver in its remaining episodes...

Jean Smart stars in Legion, continuing tonight (Thursday, March 9) at 9pm on FOX UK.
