The 24 spinoff is bringing back a familiar face from the original series... but it's not Jack Bauer.

Expect to see Carlos Bernard's Tony Almeida on 24: Legacy– and according to TVLine, it will be on a recurring basis rather than a one-off guest appearance.

Here's what Legacy's co-showrunners Manny Coto and Evan Katz had to say...

"Tony Almeida is one of the most indelible personalities in the 24 universe, at times loyal and loving, other times an utterly amoral, ruthless mercenary.

"Carlos Bernard has done an amazing job portraying this dark and conflicted character, and we couldn't be more thrilled with his return to the show."

Tony first appeared in 24 as part of the CTU team for the first four seasons, and seen leaving the team by season five.

Although Tony appeared to die at the end of season five, he's resurrected in season seven as a villain.

Bernard is the first actor from the original series to be officially joining Legacy, but no word yet on his character's storyline (or whether he'll be a good guy or a bad guy) in the new show.

Kiefer Sutherland recently denied that he will be playing Jack Bauer again in the new series.

24: Legacy follows ex-Army Ranger Eric Carter (Corey Hawkins) who seeks the CTU to help save his life after returning to the US, while he plans to stop a set of massive and potentially devastating terrorist attacks.
