So, that potential crossover of Fear the Walking Dead and its parent show The Walking Dead is looking more and more unlikely.

A bridge between the two shows was always going to be tricky, since Fear the Walking Dead is set well before the current events of The Walking Dead within their shared universe.

Chatting with TV Line, Fear co-creator Dave Erickson also shifted blame to his show's geographic location - Los Angeles compared to The Walking Dead's Atlanta - and comic book mythology as other seemingly-impossible hurdles to overcome.

"As interesting as the ways that [The Walking Dead showrunner] Scott [Gimple] and co. are able to shift the comic book narrative and really explore that, there is no Fear," Erickson said.

"[Fear the Walking Dead] didn't come from the comic, so some tectonic plates would have to shift to make [a crossover] happen."

The producer went on to say: "From a geographical standpoint, it's going to be very difficult for us to ever get to the East Coast.

"And from a narrative standpoint, with [TWD] being six seasons in and going on seven, I don't think we'll ever quite catch up with them, so chronologically, it would be difficult as well."

However, Fear executive producer Gale Ann Hurd recently told Digital Spy that there likely will be crossovers ahead - just with webseries Flight 462 rather than The Walking Dead.

Fear The Walking Dead star Kim Dickens seemed more optimistic back in December, telling us: "I think we were just sort of led to believe early on that there was no crossover - it was a little bit different time period, a different story, different location, different characters.

"But I don't think it's anything that's out of the question. I'm sure the writers would do it in a fantastic way, but I have no idea if they're going to do it. I would be game for it!"

Fear the Walking Dead continues its second season on AMC in the US later this year - and also airs on Amazon Prime in the UK.
