Unforgettable's Tawny Cypress is joining The Blacklist - and possibly its spinoff too

The Blacklist spinoff is shaping up nicely, with the news that Unforgettable's Tawny Cypress is coming aboard as a series regular.

First, the actress will appear on the final two episodes of the main show's current third season, before moving over to the spinoff if NBC gives it the go-ahead.

Cypress will play the role of Nez Rowan, according to Deadline, as she joins the recently-cast Famke Janssen, Ryan Eggold and Edi Gathegi in the proposed new series.

The episode that would plant the foundations of the spinoff will air on May 12, with show creator/exec producer Jon Bokenkamp and exec producer/showrunner John Eisendrath on scripting duties alongside director Michael Dinner.

Cypress is returning to NBC after appearing on Heroes and Third Watch, while she also had a big role on crime drama Unforgettable. She's also starred on Netflix's House Of Cards and CBS' Supergirl.

The Blacklist - which has already been renewed for a fourth season - returns Thursday, April 7 on NBC in the US. Sky Living airs the show in the UK.
