Jamie Lee Curtis has claimed that The Bear is coming to an end with its upcoming fifth season. The hit series is currently prepping its next set of episodes – though it appears they may be the last we see of Carmy and co.

The actor, who plays Berzatto matriarch Donna on the FX show, recently shared an Instagram post that heavily hinted that the new season would serve as a swansong.

In the picture alongside co-star Abby Elliott, who plays on-screen daughter Natalie, she began: "FINISHED STRONG!

"Surrounded by an extraordinary crew and group of writers and producers and scene partners on the show that Chris Storer created, completing the story of this extraordinary family that we have all fallen in love with," the star added. "Got to finish it out with my baby Berzatto bear, @lilcutieforever @thebearfx."

Pressed further on this by Entertainment Tonight, Curtis confirmed: "It is the end of the show. Everybody knows it’s the end of the show. I’m not breaking any news to anybody. It’s the end of the show — they’ve said it from the beginning."

Digital Spy has reached out to Disney and FX for comment.

The Bear follows chef Carmen 'Carmy' Berzatto (Jeremy Allen White) as he returns to his hometown of Chicago, transforming his family's sandwich shop into a top tier restaurant.

The most-recent fourth season debuted last June, earning an impressive 84% fresh score on Rotten Tomatoes based on 86 reviews.

"After simmering for too long, The Bear's fourth season finally turns the heat back up with a renewed sense of urgency, serving a rich meal despite tiresome wait times between courses," read the Critics Consensus.

The series is available on Disney+ in the UK, while as part of a deal between Disney and ITV, the first season became available last year to watch for free on ITVX with ads.

"This innovative collaboration will allow us to bring Disney+ customers some of the UK’s favourite and buzzworthy shows and encourage ITVX viewers to discover some of Disney+’s award-winning series and blockbuster films," said president of direct-to-consumer at Disney Entertainment, Joe Earley.

The Bear seasons 1-4 are available to stream on Disney+ in the UK and Hulu in the US.
