HBO's The Gilded Age has shared some exciting updates ahead of its fourth season. The period drama, which comes from Downton Abbey creator Julian Fellowes, has just announced some exciting casting updates, with historical characters set to appear.

Per Deadline, Kelley Curran, who first appeared as Enid 'Turner' Winterton in season one has been promoted to part of the regular cast for season four.

Jordan Donica and Ashlie Atkinson, who play Dr. William Kirkland and Mamie Fish respectively, were previously announced as being promoted to the regular cast.

There has also been a number of guest stars announced, including Jim Gaffigan (Chappaquiddick) as Grover Cleveland, the 22nd President of the United States, who will try to win favour with New York's elite class, while The Good Wife's Dallas Roberts will play Cleveland's Secretary of the Treasury Daniel Manning.

Homeland's Elizabeth Marvel will play Nurse Virginia Saville, who works at the Lower East Side's Neighborhood Settlement House, and Andrew Burnap (Snow White) stars as young gentleman Porter, who has "money to invest in exciting new ventures".

Season four will see Carrie Coon and Morgan Spector back as Bertha and George Russell, with Christine Baranski, Louisa Jacobson, Cynthia Nixon, Harry Richardson, Denee Benton Blake Ritson, Taissa Farmiga and Audra McDonald all returning.

The official logline for season four reads: "Bertha Russell changed Society at a cost. Now, her family must reckon with the consequences as Agnes van Rhijn (Baranski) seizes an opportunity to regain her position.

"Meanwhile, Marian (Jacobson) forges a new path for herself and Peggy (Benton) works to be accepted by her future in-laws. In this new era, you must be careful what you wish for."

Last year Fellowes teased that a crossover between his two creations - Downton Abbey and The Gilded Age - could happen after season three saw Bertha and George's daughter Gladys marry Hector, the Duke of Buckingham.

"Obviously there's an opportunity to [stage a crossover], because they are both in England," he told TVLine.

"Things like the shooting season or whatever would incorporate many great houses for all of these families, as they would travel around England.

"We can bring about a conjunction whenever we wish, really, but we haven't got one planned yet, so we'll have to see."
