Noah Wyle has admitted that he's pleased that his show Falling Skies has come to an end - and admitted that filming it was a "slog".
The TNT series finished after five seasons earlier this year and Wyle - who now stars in The Librarians - told Digital Spy that he's satisfied with the way it came to a close.
"I'm happy that it ended!" he joked. "And I'm happy that we got to write our own ending rather than just being cancelled in the off season.
"It was a very difficult show to do and it would have felt incredibly unsatisfying for both the participants as well as the audience if we hadn't had the chance to give some closure to that story and see these characters be successful.
"I'm proud that the show went to five seasons, I'm very proud of the character arc that I got the chance to play, and given some of the circumstances we worked in, it was miraculous that we were able to do it."
Wyle described filming the series as a "slog", adding: "It's a very interesting show in that in five years we had six different showrunning writers so the voice was never singular, and as a result it always felt slightly fractured and fragmented, which put the responsibility to keep up a sense of continuity really on the actors, to give the narrative some kind of sensible shape."

And he admitted that he's relieved it's over, saying: "I kind of have to be slightly politic and not show my actual enthusiasm about not doing it any more, but I'm pretty happy not to be doing it any more.
"It was hard. It was hard to work in Canada during the winter time, outside in the rain, in order to give it that sense of texture and verisimilitude. It was hard being away from my family for five weeks a year. It was just a tricky show to do."
But Wyle is now appearing on The Librarians and revealed that the end of Falling Skies has allowed him to focus on that show and his character Flynn a little more.
"I did one more episode in season two," he said. "I did four in the first season and I did five this year, and that felt right to me.
"I've heard people say, 'I wish Flynn was in it more' – I'm sure there's a few people who wish Flynn was in it less! But it seemed like the right balance to be able to come and go and now that I'm writing a little bit and directing and really interested in how the sausage gets made, it gives me an opportunity to be there and have a hand in it without having to show up in the make-up trailer at four o'clock in the morning."
The Librarians kicks off its second season in the UK tonight (November 2) at 8pm on Syfy.
