A brand new teaser for DC's Legends of Tomorrow traces the evolution of superheroes for Arrow and The Flash.

The featurette converts iconic scenes from Arrow and The Flash into comic book panels to illustrate how the series is derived from the pages of DC.

Having established two heroic vigilantes in their own series, The CW is now bringing together a superhero team in next year's midseason event series.

Legends of Tomorrow combines Arrow favourites The Atom (Brandon Routh) and the White Canary (Caity Lotz), The Flash's Firestorm (Victor Garber), and villains Heat Wave (Dominic Purcell) and Captain Cold (Wentworth Miller) as a brand new team.

Joining the established characters are young auto mechanic Jay Jackson (Franz Drameh), budding hero Hawkgirl (Ciara Renée) and time-travelling rogue Rip Hunter (Arthur Darvill).

At Comic-Con International, producers also confirmed that a casting search is under way for the role of Hawkgirl's counterpart Hawkman.
