There will be more scheming from the villainous Malcolm Merlyn (John Barrowman) in season four of Arrow.

Barrowman had an increased presence as the Dark Archer in season three of The CW series, having made more sporadic appearances in previous years.

Speaking at the Amazing Las Vegas Comic Con, the actor revealed that he recently reached a contractual agreement with The CW to remain on Arrow.

"We start filming in July, season four — I just finalized my deal about a week ago," he said. "I'm very excited about going back, I can't tell you anything because I do know a bit about what's going to happen."

He went on to tease: "But if you love Malcolm Merlyn, if you love Oliver Queen, if you love Thea Queen, if you love the Canary sisters, and I say that with a bit of a twist and a joke in it, you're going to love what's going to happen across the DC world."

Barrowman's reference to the "Canary sisters" pointed to the apparent resurrection of Sara Lance (Caity Lotz) for the upcoming spinoff Legends of Tomorrow.
