Taraji P Henson is returning to Person of Interest.

Henson will make a special appearance on the CBS procedural series on Tuesday, April 14, according to Entertainment Weekly.

Henson was a prominent member of the Person of Interest cast in its early seasons as NYPD homicide detective Joss Carter, who met a memorable end in season three.

Detective Carter will now appear in flashback sequences, as her former colleague John Reese (Jim Caviezel) re-opens one of her unsolved cases.

Henson has had major success since leaving Person of Interest on the breakout Fox hit Empire.

The Academy Award-nominated actress will host Saturday Night Live this weekend for the first time.

Person of Interest airs on Tuesdays at 10pm ET on CBS. Channel 5 airs the series in the UK on Mondays at 10pm.
