Scandal has cast True Blood star Lauren Bowles in a key role.
Bowles will be playing first lady Mellie Grant's (Bellamy Young) sister Harmony in an April 2 episode, reports Entertainment Weekly.
The arrival of Harmony in Washington DC could lead to major trouble for Grant as she weighs her political career options.
Bowles has previously worked with Scandal creator Shonda Rhimes in fellow ABC programme Grey's Anatomy and its spinoff Private Practice.
Earlier this week, Scandal previewed Lena Dunham's guest appearance as a controversial author in a new promo.
Scandal continues on ABC on Thursday at 9pm ET. Channel 4 airs the series in the UK.
