The CW has ordered pilots for The Vampire Diaries co-creator Julie Plec's epidemic drama and a Tales from the Darkside reboot.
Tales from the Darkside is being written by horror author Stephen King's son Joe Hill, with Star Trek's Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci on board to produce.
The original anthology series aired in syndication from 1984 to 1988, based on an idea by iconic horror filmmaker George A Romero.
Hill's version is being envisioned as a one-hour drama, with a targeted air date set for next season.
Plec's pilot Cordon centers on the aftermath of a deadly disease outbreak in Atlanta.
When the entire city is cordoned off for quarantine purposes, a whole new society rises up and tests familial and romantic bonds.

Cordon's pilot will be directed by David Nutter, who worked on the debut episodes of Arrow, The Flash and Supernatural.
The CW is also developing a pilot called Dead People, a drama series from JJ Abrams's production company Bad Robot.
