House of the Dragon season 2 episode 2 spoilers follow.
House of the Dragon is back for season 2 – and with it, more plotting and power-grabbing.
But contrary to popular belief, Matt Smith thinks that his character Prince Daemon Targaryen isn't one of the people vying for power.
Speaking exclusively to Digital Spy, the former Doctor Who actor explained his take on the dynamic between Daemon and Rhaenyra – especially following their argument in the latest episode, which saw her tell him that she doesn't trust him anymore.
"People often ask me, 'Is Daemon after power?' and I've never thought he is," he told us.

"I think he's more interested and addicted to being a sort of agent of chaos, and the discourse that he can create. The ripples that he can manifest further down the line."
On the breakdown of trust between Rhaenyra and Daemon, Smith added: "I think the idea that she doesn't trust him feels quite alien to him, because I think he feels like he's the most trustworthy person in the world for her. Genuinely.
"So I think that he's probably quite, in his Daemon-ness quite, hurt by that.

"The power dynamic between them in that scene, I think what was good about it was that it felt on some level – I think this show is good when it exists in this realm – is that it felt quite domestic, and so I liked it for that reason."
Although season 2 of House of the Dragon has only just started to air, a third season has already been officially greenlit.
Another Game of Thrones spin-off, titled A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight, recently revealed a first look as filming got underway.
House of the Dragon season 2 airs on Mondays on Sky Atlantic and NOW in the UK. In the US, new episodes air on Sundays on HBO and stream on Max.
