Battlestar Galactica veteran Richard Hatch has voiced his support for plans to produce a new movie version.
Hatch - who played Apollo in the original '70s series and Tom Zarek in the '00s remake - told Digital Spy that the film would "have a huge audience".
"I think a Battlestar movie would be extraordinary," he said.
"I know they're talking about it, trying to work on a script - and I think a new movie would probably launch a new Battlestar Galactica series [on television]."
The original Battlestar Galactica ran for a single season from 1978-79, with the new film expected to be a reinvention of the franchise.
"I don't think this story has been fully explored," Hatch said. "It's a never-ending plethora of dramatic possibilities.
What to Read Next
"There's a vast dramatic topography to explore and the audience can't get enough - they're hungry for more."
Hatch added that he would "love" to be involved with the new remake, provided he was offered a part "with some substance".
"I don't have to be the star of the movie - I just want a character with some substance that would challenge me as an actor," he said.
Battlestar Galactica: The Complete Original Series is available on Blu-ray on November 24, from Universal Pictures (UK).
