The fifth season of Portlandia will premiere in the US on Thursday, January 8.
The partly-improvised comedy sketch show returns to IFC for a ten-episode run, featuring guest turns from stars such as Anna Gunn, Greta Gerwig, Jane Lynch, Olivia Wilde and Matt Groening.
Justin Long, Steve Buscemi, Natasha Lyonne, Seth Meyers, Parker Posey, Brigitte Nielsen, Paul Reubens, Vanessa Bayer, Shepard Fairey, Peter Giles, Paul Simon and Oscar the Grouch will also appear this season.
Jeff Goldblum, Kumail Nanjiani, Ed Begley Jr and Kyle McLachlan will be returning as part of the regular guest cast.
Portlandia is a satirical take on hipster culture in Portland, Oregon, and focuses on a number of eccentric characters, including feminist bookstore owners Toni and Candace, "outdoorsy" couple Kath and Dave, B&B owners Peter and Nance, and self-appointed law enforcers The Sanitation Twins.
This season will see the opening of a taxidermy shop and the origins of Toni and Candace's long-time friendship.
