Barry Bostwick will make a guest appearance on New Girl.
The Spin City actor is to play a suave world traveler on the Fox comedy series.
His character Robert Goodwin is sophisticated and experienced, and will serve as Schmidt's inspiration.
Bostwick will be joined by Billy on the Street host Billy Eichner in the special Christmas episode set to air on December 9.
Bostwick's recent credits include Franklin & Bash, Scandal, Cougar Town and Psych.
Meanwhile, New Girl has changed its opening sequence. The new titles now include the names of cast members Hannah Simone and Damon Wayans Jr.
