The New York Police Department shut down the set of CBS's Person of Interest on Wednesday (September 18).
NYC residents mistook a scripted gun battle for the real thing.
Police received several calls reporting people with guns in the vicinity of 47th Street and 5th Avenue, TMZ reports.
After responding to the calls, police determined that the guns were just props being used for filming on the crime drama.
However, after realising that the cast and crew did not secure an NYPD supervisor for the shoot, police shut down the production.
The Mayor's Office later confirmed that the show's permit was revoked.
