French zombie drama The Returned is to air in the US.
The Sundance Channel has acquired the US broadcast rights to the eight-part supernatural series, Deadline reports.

The show - which recently aired on Channel 4 in the UK - is based on the 2004 feature film Les Revenants.
"We decided to take zombies to a new and utterly original level - we made them French!" said Sarah Barnett, president of the Sundance Channel.
The Returned explores the impact on the members of a village community when their deceased friends and relatives return, unharmed and un-aged.

The series will premiere on the US on Halloween (October 31), and will continue on Thursdays at 9/8c.
A second eight-part season will begin shooting in early 2014 and will air on Canal+ in its native France.
