Sandra Oh has admitted that she does not want her Grey's Anatomy character Cristina Yang to die.

The medical drama has killed off a number of its regular characters in the past, with Oh now set to depart at the conclusion of the upcoming tenth season.

"I don't know what [the writers] have planned - it can be anything," the actress told Entertainment Weekly.

"I mean, I don't want them to off me. I know people have died on this show."

Oh added that having an entire season in which to write out her character is a "great gift" for both herself as an actress and for the writers on Grey's.

"It's really difficult to write television when you don't know an endpoint," she suggested. "For the writers…to know there are multiple episodes to write a story - to write a conclusion - is a great gift.
