Lorne Michaels has insisted that he has no plans to step down as Saturday Night Live's producer in the near future.
The 68-year-old SNL creator has helmed the legendary sketch comedy series through most of its history, although there has been speculation in recent years that he could retire.
Michaels addressed speculation about his future during the 'Comedy on TV' panel in New York City, which was hosted by former SNL star Martin Short.
"I'll do it as long as I possibly can," Michaels said of his future, according to Deadline.
The producer went on to admit that he does eventually see himself leaving the show, explaining: "I think that there will be a day when I'll look at it and say I don't have the edge I used to."
Michaels served as the producer of Saturday Night Live from 1975 to 1980, a period considered by many to be the show's golden age.

He left to produce other television shows and the film The Three Amigos, but returned to SNL in 1985.
Saturday Night Live is currently on hiatus for a few weeks, but will return with host Zach Galifiankis and musical guests Of Monsters and Men on May 4.
