And Just Like That star Sara Ramírez will not return for the upcoming third season.

The actor plays comedian Che Diaz on the Sex and the City spin-off, appearing in both the first and second seasons.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Ramírez will not reprise their role in the show's third season, which was renewed by Max in August last year. It is understood that scripts for the new season are still being written though, with a future guest star or cameo appearance not ruled out.

Che was first introduced as a friend and colleague of Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker), with the two working together on relationship podcast The X, Y and Me, alongside Jackie Nee.

Miranda meets Che at Big's funeral in the first season and the two begin an extra-marital affair. After divorcing long-time husband Steve, the lawyer enters into a relationship with the comedian.

Ramírez, who has also starred in Grey's Anatomy, previously spoke out against some of the backlash over Che that first arose in season one.

"I'm very aware of the hate that exists online, but I have to protect my own mental health and my own artistry," Ramírez told The New York Times in 2022.

They also reminded viewers that they're "also not in control of the writing" and are an actor portraying a character, adding: "I don't recognize myself in Che."

No further cast announcements have been shared about And Just Like That season three, though it's thought that leading ladies Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis will return as Carrie, Miranda and Charlotte.

And Just Like That is available on NOW, Sky and HBO Max.
