Ariana DeBose has responded to a joke at the Critics Choice Awards that appeared to be aimed at her singing.

The Oscar-winning performer, who has several Broadway credits and a Tony nod under her belt, took to her Instagram Stories in the aftermath of last night's (January 14) ceremony, writing she didn't "find it funny".

The West Side Story actress recently starred in Disney's latest animated movie Wish, in which she sings 'This Wish', the ballad nominated for Best Song at the Critics Choice Awards.

Introducing the Best Song category were The Last of Us star Bella Ramsey and In The Heights' Anthony Ramos.

Listing the nominees, Ramsey said that some of them were "the most famous voices in the music industry", to which Ramos listed Billie Eilish, Lenny Kravitz and Dua Lipa.

"And then there are the actors who think they're singers," Ramsey added. "Jack Black, Ariana DeBose, and Ken himself, Ryan Gosling."

DeBose was unimpressed by the joke, with the star writing on her Instagram Stories after the event: "No, I didn't find it funny. Lol."

Some viewers at home were unhappy at the joke as well, with one person writing on Twitter/X: "Ariana DeBose, Oscar award winning, Tony nominated, OG cast member of Hamilton on BROADWAY…. 'THINKS she's a singer'?!? Who wrote this bit?! I want names".

"The disrespect to Academy Award winner, Tony nominee, Broadway star, Ariana DeBose is WILD. The look on her face really said it all," another user commented, adding: "Whoever wrote that line for Bella Ramsey is sweating right now."

Wish is in cinemas now.
