AEW has removed MJF from its official roster page following their Worlds End pay per view.

At Worlds End on Saturday (December 30), MJF lost the AEW World Championship to Samoa Joe, ending his 406-day title reign which had started at Full Gear 2022.

MJF had previously stated that his AEW contract would be up around the new year, coining the term "the bidding war of 2024" on television.

Writing in The Players' Tribune ahead of his match at Worlds End, MJF stated: "I'm wrestling Samoa Joe for the world title on Saturday night, and I have no idea what's going to happen after that.

"You’ll probably hear some stories about me over the next few days, about my contract, about the injuries I've been dealing with, about the condition my body is in, about who knows what else. I'm sure it'll all leak. That's fine."

He continued: "I'm just so, so, so tired. That's the God's honest truth. My hip is a mess. My arm won't lift above my head. I'm on painkillers, which are not my thing. I can't sleep.

"But like I said earlier…… I know it's not only me who's tired. I know our fans are a little tired of this run I've been on. And for the first time since this company started, I know there's some MJF fatigue. Which is fine, by the way — no one stays hot forever."

It is believed that MJF is taking time off to heal from injuries but did quietly sign a new AEW contract in recent months and will be staying with the company long-term.

MJF signed a five-year contract with AEW back in January 2019 when the company was formed. Prior to signing with AEW, MJF, who was 22 at the time, had never worked for a nationally televised wrestling company before.
