The Simpsons spoilers follow.
The Simpsons has killed off a classic character in the latest episode, with Bart Simpson exiting the show.
The latest instalment of the cartoon's Halloween anthology aired on Sunday, November 5 in the US, featuring a segment called 'Ei8ht'.
These annual instalments, called 'Treehouse of Horror', feature the Simpsons characters in a special Halloween-themed episode, with plenty of strange and spooky storylines.
This year's segment is set an alternate universe where Sideshow Bob fulfilled his dream of killing Bart, leading to Lisa becoming a true crime specialist. She's brought in to help the police when lots of first-born children in Springfield are horribly murdered.

She goes to Sideshow Bob for assistance, but it turns out that Lisa is the killer. Over the years, she's developed a split personality, and she committed the murders in order to get close to Bob and get her revenge.
However, Bart's demise isn't permanent. As 'Treehouse of Horror' episodes are set in an alternative universe, he's still alive and well in the main Simpsons universe.
The other segments of the special episode see Homer gain the power to turn people into versions of himself, and Marge travels into the metaverse to rescue Bart, who has been turned into an NFT, with the help of Kylie Jenner.

Kelsey Grammer returned to voice Bob again in the special, for the first time since season 31 in 2019. It's not the only character he's reprised recently, as the revival of classic sitcom Frasier recently premiered.
In Digital Spy's review of the revival, we said: "Instead of being rigid in its portrayal of the man we once knew and his world, it allows him and that world to grow, to change and take on a new shape without losing what we loved about it."
The Simpsons season 35 is currently airing on Sunday nights on Fox in the US. Seasons 1-34 are currently streaming on Disney+ in the UK.
