The upcoming Daredevil reboot is set to undergo a complete creative overhaul.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Marvel bosses have decided to use the current pause in production to make significant changes to the direction of the show, parting ways with head writers Chris Ord and Matt Corman in the process.

Production for the reboot began earlier this year, however filming later shut down in early May due to the Writers Guild of America (WGA) strikes.

The studio used the pause in production to review the footage and is now looking for new writers and directors to restart the series, with less than half the planned 18 episodes shot.

Ord and Corman will be credited as executive producers for the series and that Marvel will keep "some scenes and episodes" from the original shoot, though other "serialised elements" will be added.

The changes are also as part of a wider overhaul from Marvel in their approach to producing television content, with the studios now looking to use more traditional TV-making methods, such as hiring showrunners and writing pilot episodes, going forward.

Titled Daredevil: Born Again, the reboot will see Charlie Cox reprise his role as blind superhero Matt Murdock, with the series bringing the character fully into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The overhaul isn't the first issue Daredevil: Born Again has faced since work begun on the project either.

Last month, season one showrunner Steven DeKnight spoke out against the decision to rename the series, calling the decision a "scam".

"It's an old Disney scam where they slightly rename a series to reset contract terms back to first season. Needs to be addressed by all the guilds/unions and crushed!" he wrote on Twitter/X, responding to claims made by another user.

Digital Spy reached out to Disney+ for comment on his remarks.

Daredevil seasons 1-3 are streaming on Disney+. Daredevil: Born Again is due to premiere in 2024.
