Succession star has theory on how dead character may have survived

Succession star Brian Cox has shared his shocking theory that Logan Roy may still be alive.

The actor has come up with his own explanation for why Logan's death in the final season's third episode may not be all it seems, since Logan was killed off-screen and his body was never shown.

In the dramatic episode, viewers see the events unfold primarily from the perspective of Logan's children while his aides scrambled to revive him from a heart attack on his private jet.

In a new interview with Amol Rajan Interviews on BBC Two, Cox laid out his theory on why Logan may have actually faked his own death.

"I still believe this, maybe Logan isn't dead," he said. "This could be part of an elaborate ruse to find out. Well, if you think about it, from Logan's point of view, he has to find out, how are his children going to behave when he dies, what will then happen?

"And the only way to do that is to fake his death. And actually, at some distant point, he's observing the chaos that is following."

When pressed on whether fans can expect to see Logan in the finale, Cox answered: "No […] I'm just saying that could have been a supposition."

Recently, Succession creator Jesse Armstrong offered a more pragmatic explanation for why he killed Logan off-screen.

"We didn't really have a death scene for Logan, and that was obviously intentional," Armstrong said in HBO's Inside the Episode miniseries.

"We wanted to capture a feeling of death that people experience in the modern era, of separation of communication over phone and email."
