The Conners spoilers follow.

The identity of the returning Roseanne character set to make an appearance on spin-off The Connors has finally been revealed.

An upcoming episode from the show's fifth season will see actor Eric Allan Kramer reprising the role of Bobo.

Bobo previously appeared in the first season of Roseanne back in 1989, where he and Dan got into a physical fight over the use of a pool table at the Lobo Lounge.

Showrunner Bruce Helford first teased Bobo's comeback last year, telling TVLine that there was "someone coming from years' past" in September.

He then teased in November: "Oh yeah, [that’s] still happening. I don’t want to tell you much… It could very well be after the first of the new year.

"It’s a man. And it’s not just a character, it’s the person who played the character."

William H Macy will appear in the same episode, making his debut as Smitty Cusamano, one of Dan's closest friends from high school who returns to his hometown following the tragic news that a beloved teacher has died.

The show has also recently seen the departure of star Michael Fishman, who plays DJ Conner. The character was revealed at the start of season five to have left to be with his wife Geena.

"We love him. He's part of the family," Helford said at the time, when asked about the possibility of DJ returning in the future.

"There's certainly no one saying he will never be on the show [again]. It's just a matter of whether storylines come up that are built for that."

The Conners airs on ABC in the US.
