NCIS star Michael Weatherly teases Tony and Ziva reunion

NCIS star Michael Weatherly has teased his return to the show, and by extension, a reunion for fan-favourite couple 'Tiva'.

Weatherly played NCIS Special Agent Anthony 'Tony' DiNozzo Jr on NCIS from seasons 1-13, leaving in 2016.

When his character left, he was under the impression that his other half Ziva (played by Cote de Pablo) was dead, and took off to Paris with their daughter Tali.

But it was later revealed that Ziva was alive and just in hiding, with de Pablo returning to the show on a recurring basis in season 17. If Tony's return and a Tiva reunion were to happen, there's a lot of drama there to mine.

The actor teased his return over on his Twitter page, at first tweeting "Happy New Year! It’s time to look at time and enjoy the moment!" When a fan replied saying that they'd rather see a Tiva reunion in 2023, he noted that it might actually happen.

This time next week will see a three-hour crossover between NCIS and its spin-offs Hawai’i and Los Angeles, after it was delayed ever so slightly.

LL Cool J, who stars in the LA show, has been hyping up the crossover by comparing it to superhero movies.

"It's like how Batman and Superman interact, or in the Marvel Universe, how all the different superheroes interact," he said. "Seeing these characters from the NCIS-verse come together and the way they communicate and connect is going to be interesting, and I think fans will be excited about that.

"There'll be action. There'll be thrills. There'll be rollercoaster rides. All of the chills and the fun and the craziness that they are used to."

NCIS airs on CBS in the US. Seasons 1-19 are streaming on Disney+ in the UK.
