Mythic Quest season 3 spoilers follow.

Mythic Quest returned to Apple TV+ for its third season today (November 11), with the premiere episode revealing how F Murray Abraham's character CW Longbottom was written out of the show.

Abraham portrayed the washed up fantasy author throughout the first two seasons, but it was announced back in April that he wouldn't be back for the third.

"F Murray Abraham will not be returning to season three of Mythic Quest. Beyond that, we do not comment on matters concerning personnel," read the official statement from Lionsgate.

The Moon Knight star's abrupt departure from the show had left fans wondering how CW's own exit would be dealt with, and the first episode has finally answered that question.

Rather than showing up to his welcome home party, CW pre-sent the gang a letter announcing that he had decided to end his own life Thelma and Louise style, following what he called an "unfortunate prognosis".

The letter continued: "My remains will be retrieved, placed into a satellite and launched into space," thus concluding his story as a "true original".

Other regulars, including Rob McElhenney, Imani Hakim, David Hornsby, Jessie Ennis, Naomi Ekperigin, Ashly Burch and Danny Pudi, returned for the workplace comedy's third outing despite Abraham's absence.

This time around, Dana deals with Ian and Poppy's frequent bickering as the pair navigate their responsibilities at the recently established GrimPop Studios.

Meanwhile, David is now in charge of Mythic Quest, Carol is dealing with a new promotion, Rachel is having moral dilemmas at Berkeley, and Brad, who just got out of prison, is attempting to reintegrate into society as a changed man.

Mythic Quest season 3 is now streaming exclusively on AppleTV+ with new episodes releasing weekly.
