The latest trailer for Rick and Morty has revealed that fan-favourite character Dr. Wong will be returning for the final episodes of season six.

In the brief clip, we see Rick burst into her office, shoot a patient with his laser gun before saying he needs to talk with her.

Dr. Wong was introduced during season three's episode 'Pickle Rick' with the Smith family seeing the therapist following Beth and Jerry's divorce, later appearing again in season four's episode 'Star Mort: Rickturn of the Jerri'.

Rick's decision to seek out the therapist definitely marks a huge change for the character, as fans of the show will remember Rick previously had a very low opinion on therapy.

While the reasons for Rick's sudden U-turn on therapy aren't clear, the mini trailer does tease plenty of interstellar action for him and Morty. The last four episodes are set to premiere in the US from November 20 onwards, marking the end of the season's brief hiatus.

Meanwhile, showrunner Sarah Carbiener previously floated the idea of a spin-off focusing on Dr. Wong.

While speaking to Digital Spy at the 2022 San Diego Comic-Con, Carbiener revealed that she would love to create an In Treatment-style show starring Dr. Wong.

"I would do the In Treatment thing with Dr Wong," she said. "With different Rick and Morty characters, and do the five-episodes-a-week therapy session. Never cut away, it's just her and like a year ahead doing therapy."

But fans shouldn't get their hopes up too much about the idea as the showrunner joked that, despite her enthusiasm, it was currently very unlikely to happen.

Rick and Morty airs on Adult Swim in the US, and on E4 and All 4 in the UK.
