Andor's Diego Luna teases major time jumps ahead

Andor star Diego Luna has revealed fans can expect to see some time skips coming up in the show.

Speaking to TVLine about the series, Luna, who plays titular character Cassian Andor, explained what fans can expect to see from the first season.

"We have 12 episodes to cover a year," he said.

"So what happens with the series is just when you think you understand what [the show] is going to be like, what kind of tone you’re going to be in, what characters are going to be around and what the setting is, the series will take you somewhere else and you will go and start from scratch."

He continued: "That way the series can transform to be yes, the adventure-and-action piece that you would hope a Star Wars [show] is. But then it will be able to turn into a spy thriller and become very political, and then in a moment become very intimate and character-driven, and then back to the big scope."

Luna doesn't confirm how many time skips will take place in Andor. However, with the first season only following a year's worth of events, there will be more ground to cover in the second (and final) season, meaning more time skips will be needed to cover the rest of the story.

Set five years before the events of Rogue One, Andor provides Star Wars fans with a backstory to the character and details how Cassian transforms from a thief into a passionate revolutionary and hero of the Rebel Alliance.

Alongside Luna, Genevieve O'Reilly reprises her role as Alliance leader Mon Mothma (previously appearing in Revenge of the Sith and Rogue One). Forest Whitaker is also set to return as revolutionary Saw Gerrera.

Andor airs weekly every Wednesday on Disney+.
