Rick and Morty boss Dan Harmon's next project Krapopolis has already been renewed for a second season.

Set to premiere in 2023, this fantastical animation takes us to ancient Greece, where a dysfunctional family of gods, monsters and humans attempt to govern the world's early cities.

Hannah Waddingham, known for playing Rebecca Welton in Apple TV+'s Ted Lasso, and The IT Crowd's Richard Ayoade are part of the voice cast, alongside Matt Berry (What We Do in the Shadows), Pam Murphy (Mapleworth Murders) and Duncan Trussell (The Midnight Gospel).

Regarding its recommission, Fox Entertainment president Michael Thorn said in a statement (via The Wrap): "As you can imagine, anything Dan Harmon does is unflinchingly irreverent and filled with his signature, bold characters; and these early episodes of Krapopolis far surpass even our highest expectations.

"While we continue to evolve Fox's animation brand, it's a true delight watching Dan and his team work their magic on Krapopolis. But it's an even bigger thrill to be so confident in this special project to be able to reward it with an early renewal."

Ayoade voices the mortal King of Krapopolis, Tyrannis, while Waddingham plays Deliria, his "goddess of self-destruction and questionable choices" mother.

"Within her extended Olympian family – forged in patricide and infidelity – she's known as the trashy one," the series logline adds of Deliria.

Meanwhile, Berry voices Tyrannis's father Shlub, an "oversexed and underemployed" half-centaur, half-manticore. Murphy plays Tyrannis's Cyclopian half-sister Stupendous, and Trussell is Hippocampus, the offspring of Shlub and a mermaid.

Rick and Morty airs on Adult Swim in the US, and on E4 and All 4 in the UK.
