Star Trek: Picard's showrunner has teased the possibility of some major deaths in the upcoming third and final season.
Season three of Picard is set to bring back a number of The Next Generation stars – but could one of them meet their end?
On Twitter, Terry Matalas responded to a fan who shared their fears that one of the TNG characters could die, tweeting: "Safety not guaranteed".
When another fan suggested killing off a Next Generation character would be a "major risk", Matalas then posted Captain Kirk's 'Risk is Our Business' speech.
The final season will see appearances from Jonathan Frakes's Riker, LeVar Burton's Geordi La Forge, Michael Dorn's Worf, Gates McFadden's Beverly Crusher, Marina Sirtis' Deanna Troi and Jeri Ryan's Seven of Nine.
The next season of Picard was recently confirmed to return on February 19 in a new trailer, which also teased the classic crew back in action.
What to Read Next
Following on from the series, rumours have surfaced of a possible Picard movie, with star Patrick Stewart recently admitting it would be an "exciting" prospect.
"Yes. In answer to that bluntly. I think that would be a very interesting and exciting and worthwhile thing to achieve," he said at the 2022 San Diego Comic-Con.
Showrunner Alex Kurtzman also spoke about bringing back the classic characters, saying: "When we first started, of course the first instinct is to bring back the entire crew of The Next Generation, and Patrick was amazing because he said to us: 'If we're going to do this, what I don't want to do is repeat old things. If we're going to get to the crew, then we have to earn it.'
"I think we took two seasons to earn that return. What we didn't want to do was have the crew return and do sort of cameos, we actually wanted everybody to have really significant roles and whet appetites a bit to see them together."
Star Trek: Picard airs on Paramount+ in the US and on Amazon Prime Video in the UK.
