Vampire Academy star Sisi Stringer has revealed an unexpected painful side effect to filming the series.
Stringer plays Rosemarie on the show – a Dhampir Guardian aka Moroi-human hybrid whose job is to protect the Moroi from Strigoi.
In an exclusive interview with Digital Spy, Stringer revealed that she got frostbite on her fingers when filming outside.

Stringer said she had to endure freezing weather conditions in the Spanish winter and explained how the physical challenges surpassed the emotional ones.
"I think everything comes with its emotional challenges, but I think for me the physical challenges were more – not profound – but were definitely more, not an issue, but something I had to overcome," she explained.
"It was freezing in Spain, it was very cold, and the Dhampirs spend a lot of time outside training," said Stringer. "Every now and then it would be a day where it's snowing a couple of kilometres away.

According to the star, shooting the strenuous training scenes outside left her feeling like she had painful frostbite on her fingers.
"And so we're out there, and we're fighting and working and doing all this stuff, but you feel like you can get frostbite because your fingers start to turn to ice.
"So the physical challenges were notable for me definitely," she added.
The new fantasy horror series from The Vampire Diaries' co-creator Julie Plec, takes place at a boarding school for vampires and Dhampirs (half vampires).
Recently, Plec revealed how the show differentiates from The Vampire Diaries: "There's not much overlap except for the emotional stuff – building a show around family/ friends, filling your soul, that's just how I write. This looks very different to [The Vampire Diaries] – in a Spanish castle, the opulence dialled up."
Vampire Academy premieres on Peacock on September 15 in the US, and on Peacock on Sky and Now on September 16 in the UK.
